Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She founded The Huffington Post and the CEO of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Originating from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first ever foreign-born student to serve as president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took on the role. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she graduated. With the introduction of The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided an honest assessment of the current state of the nation's politics. Her celebrity status helped her to get a number of prominent contributors to share their opinions on politics news and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 after she decided to stand for a non-partisan position in the California recall election to replace then Governor Davis. In addition to this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as one of the top female media personality, taking the 12th place on the list. The same year the Guardian included her in the top 100 list of media. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post in 2011 and named her the president of their media company and also included several other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and manager Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Though she shared a close friendship with her mother and father, it was their bond that shaped her. In her early years she showed the leadership abilities for which she's still known. In her 16th year, she moved to Britain to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college which she later became the first foreign female president. She graduated in 1972 with a master's degree in Economics. She worked as a critic television host, and a columnist after her graduation. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his help.
