Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She was a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news site and a television host as well as a writer and charitable donor. Originally from Greece she was able to move to England at the age of 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first student non-UK to become the president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. In the years following after her college graduation, she became an influential Conservative syndicated journalist. A few more years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critical commentary on the current politics. The fame of Arianna led to the recruitment of a number of prominent contributors to share their views on current events, politics and culture. Arianna's popularity started in 2003, after she became an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed a Detroit project to promote vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes named her as 12th on its top 10 list of Most Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their Top 100 list in 2010. AOL, Inc. made her the President of their media company in 2011, after they purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post was joined by the other AOL brands such as Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. Though she was close with her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her life. She was a leader throughout her childhood. When she was 16 years old, she moved over to England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. In the years of her university, she belonged to the Cambridge Union debating group where she became the first woman president, and also the sole foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics. After her graduation, she was a columnist-critic and a host on TV. She appeared alongside Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write the books she wrote with Bernard Levin's aid.
