Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN and HLN. She appears regularly on CNN's "New Day Weekend' and HLN's 'Weekend Express', as being a regular guest on CNN International programming. She served as the meteorologist of local stations at Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to becoming a part of CNN. She has covered every aspect of hurricanes, blizzards, flooding events, and wildfires. She was awarded an Emmy award for her reporting of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in 2019. In April of 2011 she covered the super-tornado outbreak where 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. Around 200 tornadoes were recorded on the 27th of April 2011. She has covered changes in the climate, as well as volcanoes and earthquakes thanks to her expertise in environmental science. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelor's program of Atmospheric Science, which she obtained from The Ohio State University. She is a member of a variety of organizations, including those of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
